Development of a Guide for Efficient Use of Forest Biomass for Energy Production in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Enviros

ENVIROS consultant for the Environment and Renewable Energy, Dr Strahinja Mladenovic, has cooperated as an international expert in developing a Guide to the implementation of good practice examples and recommendations for increasing the utilization of forest wood biomass in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project is being implemented to support responsible institutions at all levels of government in creating the conditions for the sustainable use of biomass potential. The United Nations Development Program – UNDP implements the projects “Biomass Energy for Employment and Energy Security” and “Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals” funded by the Czech Republic through development assistance models.

The guide focuses on operational measures and methods of forest management, technology and wood biomass market. It also includes information related to the current state of the forestry sector in BiH, an overview of the situation in the Czech Republic and the European Union, forestry planning and management, forestry technology and practices and their use in mobilizing wood biomass, as well as the importance of involving the public in decision-making in this areas. On June 17, 2019, a stakeholder seminar was held where a working version of the Guide was presented and Dr Strahinja Mladenović outlined the principles of biomass utilization in the Czech Republic and the European Union.
