P-D Refractories CZ, a.s. Velké Opatovice - Enviros

Our company, P-D Refractories CZ, a.s., Velké Opatovice, ranks among leading European manufacturers of refractory materials. Within the global market environment of refractory materials where our company is moving it is necessary to strengthen constantly competitiveness which inter alia raises the need to reduce production costs. In our case, energy for technological purposes consititute their significant item. This fact encouraged the company management to put an effort into making energy management more efficient and simultaneously searching for a suitable basis and a partner to start these activities. Both were found –  M&T project was launched in collaboration with ENVIROS under the EMPRESS Programme in May 2005.

Systematic monitoring and evaluation of energy consumption of individual technological equipment and operating centres or sections followed which was a guideline for setting energy saving measures, all of that under the supervision of ENVIROS´experts. Both their high professional potential and humanly positive attitude and hard work often under difficult operating conditions played a vital role. Gradually, a number of measures were selected and implemented, both operational – low-cost measures  and also  investment measures where also thanks to expert assistance of ENVIROS a grant support was successfuly obtained. They were measures of different character ranging from dust control line blocking (blokace linek odprašování), interior lighting organization and improvement to the reconstruction of furnace units with  significant savings of specific natural gas consumption of natural gas for firing refractory products and with waste heat recovery for  drying products or heating manufacturing spaces. Quantified annual savings for individual actions ranged from hundreds of thousands to millions of CZK. From an overall point of view, we can speak about annual financial energy savings, i.e. electricity and natural gas, at the level of approx. 20 % which certainly significantly contributes to improvement of our product competitiveness on world markets. Also  very positive benefits in the context of the environment and workplace cannot be ignored, both in terms of our company as a business entity and from the perspective of our employees and their sense of belonging to the enterprise where they work.

Následovalo systematické sledování a vyhodnocování spotřeby energií na dílčích technologických zařízeních a provozních střediscích nebo úsecích, což bylo návodem pro stanovování úsporných opatření, vše pod odborným vedením pracovníků firmy Enviros. Jejich vysoký profesní potenciál, ale také lidsky pozitivní přístup a pracovní nasazení často v nelehkých provozních podmínkách zde sehrály zásadní roli. Postupně byla vytypována a realizována celá řada jednak provozních – nízkonákladových opatření, ale také opatření investičního charakteru, kde se i díky odborné pomoci Envirosu dařilo získávat dotační podporu. Byla to opatření rozličného charakteru, od blokace linek odprašování, organizace a vylepšení vnitřního osvětlení až po rekonstrukce pecních agregátů s významnou úsporou měrné spotřeby zemního plynu na výpal žárovzdorných výrobků a s využitím odpadního tepla pro účely sušení výrobků či vytápění výrobních prostor. Vyčíslené roční úspory se u jednotlivých akcí pohybovaly od stovek tisíc až po miliony korun.  Z celkového pohledu můžeme hovořit o ročních finančních úsporách energií, tedy elektřiny a zemního plynu v úrovni cca 20%, což je jistě významný příspěvek ke zlepšení konkurenceschopnosti našich výrobků na světových trzích. Neopominutelný je však také velmi pozitivní přínos ve vztahu k životnímu a pracovnímu prostředí, jak z pohledu naší společnosti jako podnikatelského subjektu, tak i z pohledu našich zaměstnanců a jejich sounáležitosti k firmě kde pracují.
